Are Your Memories Private?

We grow up with our brains storing every memory we experience, writing them with our perceptions and the knowledge we have of the time. Science fiction delves into the possibilities of others coming into our minds and extracting that information. But we never think anything can access our memories without our will.

We thought wrong.

When you work in the conscious worlds, beings more powerful than us can easily access our minds. Those skeletons you have hanging, locked away in the recesses of your mind… they are not private. Beings with far more experience working with consciousness can easily pluck memories from your mind at will.

You might find yourself in meditation talking to a god like Odin or Thor. They see something they want you to explain and pull out the memory, making you relive it. When it comes to gods, people might not be surprised when they pull memories out of our heads.

It’s not limited to gods.

Extraterrestrials, nature spirits, interdimensional beings, everything you come into contact with in the conscious realms has a degree of ability to access memories. Some are extremely skilled, able to sift through your mind like a filing cabinet. Others aren’t interested at all, letting you keep your experiences to yourself. It depends on who you meet.

If you choose to work in these worlds, if you choose to invite other beings into your journey, sooner or later you will have to face the memory of your demons. Those memories you’ve never shared. Memories that bring you pain and suffering. Someone or something will pluck them from your mind and ask for an explanation.

We have to prepare ourselves.

To do that, we need to reflect on our lives. There needs to be an understanding of past deeds. Anything associated with a negative emotion should be understood fully. That comes be delving into those events through meditation, self-reflection, counseling, creative means, or other techniques. Once we strengthen ourselves, love and forgive ourselves regardless of those past actions, we’ll easily face those instances where greater powers ask for explanations.

No matter how strong we are, the curious beings still ask. Some may ask us to work through the memory and strengthen ourselves. Others may be interested in why it happened or what our perspective was at the time.

Wasp, an insectoid being mentioned in my book series, pulled memories of me killing chipmunks and lovingly caring for insects. He wanted to know why I killed the chipmunks. We had a long conversation about the damage they were inflicting, things that had been tried, and other techniques before I killed them. Those memories were filled with the pain and love I experienced at the time but had long understood.

Others have pulled memories I wanted to lose long ago about the childhood abuses I experienced, but I understood those memories. I was able to explain them. They were part of my past.

By understanding myself, I strengthened my ability to interact with powers beyond my imagining.

Now those skeletons are long buried.

Work on your own skeletons. Understand your past. As you walk the cosmic highways, you will be stopped and asked, “Why did you do this?”

To those of greater power, we are open books. They can flip to a specific page, skim the book, or devour every word. Like any good reader, they’ll ask questions about the journey to help themselves understand it… and you.
